Inmate Mail Policy

All incoming mail must have the following information:

All incoming and outgoing mail must have their full name (first & Last), a full and correct address of both the sender and the recipient on the envelope. Anyone that does not adhere to this policy is subject to a rejection notice.

  • No lipstick, lip gloss, or scents allowed on any material.
  • No metallic fixtures or stickers of any kind.
  • No painted paper / printed on paper / printed photo collage.
  • No photographs larger than 4x6 and may not contain any alcoholic beverages, nudity, weapons or tobacco, illegal activity, polaroid pictures.
  • No staples / paper clips / laminated plastic.
  • No blank paper, envelopes, or stamps. However, these items may be purchased on through commissary.
  • No printed social media paper, this includes newspaper clippings or comic strips.
  • No greeting cards.
  • No unauthorized inmate to inmate correspondence.

Books

MUST be mailed from a reputable bookstore. All books must be soft cover. Hard cover books will be placed in the inmate’s property until release. Inmates are allowed (2) religious books and (2) personal books in their possession at any given time. New, incoming, books may be traded out by Justice Center staff when time allows and submitted through a Request of Staff.

Approved Sources

  • Books must be shipped directly from a publisher or a recognized distributor, such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or Books-A-Million.
  • Packages from individuals, third-party sellers, or used bookstores will be rejected.

Condition Requirements

  • Books must be new and unmarked—no handwritten notes, highlighting, or damage
  • Only softcover (paperback) books are allowed.
  • Hardcover, spiral-bound, or oversized books are not permitted.

Quantity Limits

  • Inmates may possess a maximum of two (2) personal books and two (2) religious books at any given time.
  • Excess books must be picked up from the facility or will be disposed of according to facility policy.

Content Restrictions

  • Nudity or sexually explicit material
  • Graphic violence
  • Gang-related content
  • Hate speech or discriminatory themes
  • Instructions for criminal activity or escape

Inspection and Processing

  • All incoming books are subject to inspection by facility staff.
  • Books that violate any policy will be rejected and placed in the inmate's property.
  • Processing may take up to 48 hours from the date of receipt (excluding weekends and holidays).
